Why international buyers invest in Cyprus

Cyprus draws overseas buyers year-after-year to its sandy shores, but what makes this magical island so great? We take a look at just a few reasons and assess what the property market looks like at the moment.

Easy to get to

Two international airports Paphos, and Larnaca serve Cyprus meaning that your property should never be more than an hour away from an airport. It is, therefore, the perfect destination for a holiday home, lending itself to longer stays or short breaks.

In terms of public transport in the area, it’s fairly efficient. Buses run all over the island as you’d expect, are regular in the larger towns and less frequent in the smaller towns and villages.

Great beaches

There are hundreds of blue flag beaches in Cyprus, meaning that they are cleaned regularly, great for swimming and have brilliant facilities. Perfect for all ages and extremely safe, the beaches are a large part of why this sunny island is so popular with buyers from overseas.

With so many beautiful beaches, it’s difficult to pick out the best ones. However, some to note would be Coral Bay Paphos, Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa, Lara Beach, Pissouri Bay, just to name a few.

Low cost of living

The price of food and drink in Cyprus is extremely reasonable, especially when compared to the UK! Eating out is inexpensive and you can get a full three-course lunch for around €15. Many choose to buy fresh produce from local markets. Even the cost of running your house and car tends to be cheaper than in the UK.

Perfect climate

Cyprus has the perfect climate, with all year round sunshine, short mild winters and long hot summers, it has one of the healthiest climates to live in with winter temperatures of 22–23 °C during the day and 12–14 °C at night and summer 28–30 °C (82–86 °F) during the day and around 25 °C (77 °F) at night. (July and August) is usually hot.

Skiing in Cyprus

Although Cyprus is a Mediterranean island bathed in glorious sunshine, you can indeed ski there. Troodos Mountain is 2,000 meters above sea level, here we have a ski center that is open in the winter months. The ski season in Cyprus typically lasts between January and April, you can ski and sunbath all in the same day!

An abundance of activities

A strong property market

The Cyprus property market is in a stable position, despite the pandemic. Prices in Cyprus have risen slightly since the start of last year, It could be said that now is a good time to invest in Cyprus property. When travel restrictions are lifted fully and buyers rush to purchase their property abroad, it could become more of a ‘seller’s market’.
